Kitesurf lessons in Tarifa All year round, in English, German and Spanish
Learn in pairs or 1:1 with your own instructor. Gear, radio helmet and rescue are always included.
Learn to kitesurf in small groups
As a professional kite school in Tarifa, we teach with modern, up-to-date gear and are members of the VDWS (Association of German Watersport Schools) and the FAV (Andalusian Sailing Federation, Federación Andaluza de Vela). We do not run big groups: in a semi-private lesson you share your instructor with just one other person, and in a private lesson you have them all to yourself.
We teach all year round, in English, German or Spanish. With a radio helmet you can hear your instructor on the water, and a rescue boat is ready in offshore wind. Depending on Poniente or Levante, we go to the beach that suits your level that day.
For an extra €50 you can finish with the VDWS licence, including theory and the Stepflat. This internationally recognised certificate lets you rent gear at stations worldwide.

FAQ
Question not answered? Message us on WhatsApp.
How long is a kitesurf lesson per day?
Semi-private lessons last 3 hours a day, private lessons 2 hours. In a private lesson you are flying the whole time, so it is shorter.
How many days should I book?
For beginners we recommend 3 to 5 days. After that most riders manage their first metres on the board and can continue with Help 2 Kite.
Can I take lessons in winter?
Yes, we teach all year round. Winter is mild, the beaches are quieter and the wind comes regularly. You will need a thicker wetsuit, which we provide.
What happens if the wind is not right?
We plan lesson days around the wind forecast. If the wind does not work on a day, we agree with you when to continue.
Do I need to be a good swimmer?
You should feel safe in deep water. A buoyancy vest and helmet are always part of the lesson.
Where do we meet?
At our station at C/ Mar Adriático 23 in Tarifa. From there we head to the spot of the day together.
What do VDWS and FAV stand for?
The VDWS (Verband Deutscher Wassersport Schulen, the Association of German Watersport Schools) is an association of watersport schools with more than 540 centres in 30 countries. It trains instructors, sets quality standards for kitesurf, windsurf, wingfoil and SUP schools and issues the internationally recognised VDWS licence. The FAV (Federación Andaluza de Vela) is the Andalusian Sailing Federation, which also recognises kitesurf and wingfoil schools in Andalusia. Tarifa Surf Club is a member of both.
How much is the VDWS licence and what is the Stepflat?
The VDWS licence costs a one-off €50 with us, including theory. With the Stepflat every upgrade is free: if you got your licence with us, we add your next level for life at no extra cost.
What is Help 2 Kite?
Supervised kiting for independent riders (around VDWS level 4–5). We show you the right spot, stay nearby and pick you up by boat in offshore wind.
When do you want to get on the water?
Send us your travel dates and your level, and we will suggest the right lessons.
